ArmInfo. Russian Human Rights Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova made a statement in connection with the clashes between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Russia.
According to the press service of the Ombudsman for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Moskalkova, in particular, noted: "I am extremely concerned about the riots that began in Moscow between representatives of the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples, which became known from the monitoring of the media on July 24, 2020.
Incitement to hatred and physical violence based on ethnicity is unacceptable in any civilized society, undermines the foundations of human and civil rights and freedoms enshrined in international universal and regional acts and can lead to their massive violations and irreparable losses.
I call on all parties to the conflict to resolve disputes arising within the framework of existing legal mechanisms, and I also express my readiness to interact with my colleagues - Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan A. Aliyeva and Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia A. Tatoyan, to immediately take measures to protect rights and the freedoms of their compatriots''.
It should be noted that after the aggravation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border on July 12, clashes occurred and continue to occur in different cities and countries of the world, in most of which groups of Azerbaijanis attack, as a rule, lonely Armenians. Quite often these provocations turned into fights, there are injured. Incidents were registered in the USA, in a number of European countries, in different cities of the Russian Federation, etc. Yesterday the car of the Armenian Embassy in Germany was burned. In the evening, reports began to arrive about the beating of Armenians in different parts of Moscow. There were serious clashes in Munich, Belgium, Los Angeles. The Union of Armenians of Russia made a statement on the incidents in Moscow, strictly condemning such actions of the Azerbaijani side and calling on compatriots not to succumb to provocations.
