ArmInfo. The Special Investigation Service of Armenia opened a criminal case in connection with the unlawful alienation of the land in 2014, as a result of which the state suffered a particularly large amount of damage.
According to the SIS, in the framework of the criminal case, charges were brought against the son-in-law of the leader of Prosperous Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan, Karapet Guloyan, who served as mayor of Abovyan in the past, as well as employee of the State Committee of the Cadastre of Kotayk region Derenik Gevorgyan. The report of the investigating authority says that this refers to fraud with a land of 10.5 hectares worth 295 million drams, which was sold through a fake auction for only 712 thousand drams. The sale of land took place by introducing false data on its intended purpose into the relevant documentation. In particular, Gevorgyan changed the value of this plot from "settlements" to "agricultural" on the cadastral map, which reduced the cost of one hectare from 29.4 million drams to 67.5 thousand.
The actions of Guloyan and Gevorgyan caused serious damage to the legitimate interests of the state and the Abovyan community. The former cadastre officer has now been detained; he is charged under part 3 of article 309 of the Criminal Code. Guloyan is charged under part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Damage in the amount of about 295 million drams was restored, the amount was transferred to the deposit account of the Special Investigation Service.
Recall, the Armenian parliament at the plenary meeting on June 16 gave the green light to the arrest of Gagik Tsarkyan. Tsarukyan himself regards the actions of the authorities as political persecution.
