ArmInfo.The period of temporary suspension of the Armenian- Chinese agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for persons with ordinary passports expires on May 31. Starting June 1, Armenian citizens with ordinary passports will have the right to visit China without a visa. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA MFA. At the same time, the country's foreign ministry urges Armenian citizens to plan a visit to China only in emergency cases.
"We would like to inform you that before leaving for China, Armenian citizens must fill out an appropriate statement about their health condition, since upon arrival at the People's Republic of China they must pass a mandatory 14-day quarantine at their own expense."
To recall, the visa-free agreement between Armenia and China entered into force on January 19 this year, but was suspended due to the spread of COVID-19. The document that was signed in May 2019, in Yerevan, Foreign Ministers of the two countries Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Wang Yi, was ratified by the Armenian parliament on December 10. According to the document, citizens of the two countries will be able to enter the territory of the state that has signed the agreement with their internal passports, leave it or follow transit without visa requirements. The visa-free regime is valid for 90 days for each 180-day period. If citizens wish to stay in another country that has signed the agreement for more than 90 days, in particular for work, study, journalism or other activities, they must apply for a visa.
