ArmInfo. The government intends to carry out reforms in the judicial system in order to form an independent judicial system in Armenia.
The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced on May 16 at a press conference answering a question about vetting in the judicial system.
The prime minister noted that the government will consistently follow the path of reform. <Recently, there is often talk that reforms should be very quick. However, I have seen more than once that several brilliant reforms were unsuccessful due to the fact that their authors were in a hurry. Reforms in Armenia should take place without haste, they should be deliberate>, Pashinyan emphasized.
He also noted that the main thing is that citizens should be satisfied with the reforms in Armenia. <We do not need puppet courts, even pro-revolutionary ones. Most importantly, the judiciary should be truly independent. Of course, there are truly independent judges in the country. And reforms in the judiciary are necessary in order to identify truly independent judges. It is on them that a new, independent judiciary will be based>, "Pashinyan stated, noting that mafia thinking in Armenia has very deep roots.
The prime minister also said that there are also very fair people in the judicial system whose professional level is at zero level. <Our goal is not to change people. The most important thing is to create an independent judicial system in the country. This is our only goal>, Pashinyan said.
