ArmInfo. In the Syunik region of Armenia, 20 criminal cases were opened and accepted on the fact of violations and abuses during the execution of land sublease to telecommunication operators. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, these land plots are state or community property.
During the investigation, facts of abuse of power by former and current heads of 17 regional communities were revealed. Three criminal cases were instituted on the grounds of part 1 of article 308 of the RA Criminal Code, two cases on the grounds of part 2 of article 38-308 of the RA Criminal Code, and 15 cases on the grounds of the part 2 of article 308 of the RA Criminal Code. According to the materials of criminal cases, starting with 2006, community leaders leased land owned by state or community property to their relatives or subordinates for a nominal rent, much lower than the market. To this end, in some cases, fictitious tenders were organized. Further, land plots were subleased at a cost that was several times higher than the aforementioned symbolic fee, due to which large profits were made from the heads of communities for personal use.
In total, the damage caused to the communities amounted to over 82.5 million drams, of which, as of May 12, about 31.7 million drams were restored. Measures are taken to repair the damage in full. 5 illegal agreements with telecommunication operators were terminated, and this process will be continued with the cooperation of the regional administration of Syunik.
