ArmInfo. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with His Holiness Pope Francis. This was reported by the press service of the government.
The Prime Minister thanked the Church of Rome and Pope Francis personally for efforts to mitigate the socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus and to help vulnerable groups, and presented the steps taken by the Armenian government against the epidemic. In this context, Prime Minister Pashinyan attached great importance to the call of Pope Francis for a general ceasefire made last month, presented the commitment of Armenia to a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh issue, and also expressed appreciation to His Holiness for the continued support of the Armenian people and the establishment of historical justice. His Holiness congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the second anniversary of his election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. He noted with great satisfaction the fraternal relations and the unshakable bond between the Roman Catholic and Armenian Apostolic churches. The Pope reaffirmed his position on the issue of the Armenian Genocide.
The interlocutors praised the role of the Armenian Catholic community in the life of the Armenian people. The parties emphasized their readiness to expand bilateral interstate relations.
