ArmInfo. The main problem that I see in the context of the fall in Nikol Pashinyan's rating - is the absence of substantial, in-depth reforms over the past two years. Party Secretary, economist Suren Sahakyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"Basically such, usually quite hard and unpopular among society reforms are carried out when the rating of the authorities is at its peak. Low-rated political power, as a rule, does not initiate such real reforms. In this light, with deep regret, I should note that the expected reforms in Armenia did not happen and are unlikely to happen, "he said.
Among the acquisitions and achievements of the revolution, Sahakyan singled out the release of electoral processes from the dictates of money and "authorities". Significant reduction in corruption, "shadow" in economy, due to the struggle of the government with these phenomena. Although, even these achievements, according to his estimates, are rather unstable, given that they have the potential to roll back at any time.
Basing on the results of sociological polls Sahakyan noted that the society still has hopes related to change of power. At the same time some of people from his own environment who had supported the ruling regime for these two years gradually lose hope and expectations. Thus, the real facts and the benchmarks are quite contradictory. Nevertheless the trend is obvious and everyone, including the government itself, see and realize it.
"A few days ago, the prime minister himself noted that there are citizens who were disappointed in the revolution. And I think, listing their categories, he was quite sincere. Nevertheless, the very contents of this list indicate the degree of Pashinyan's isolation from reality. According to the prime minister, only people torn from the feeding trough can be disappointed with the revolution. Meanwhile, the reality is completely different. And the problem is that important decisions for the country will be made on the basis of initially incorrect data and conclusions, "he emphasized.
Sahakyan considers coronavirus as another factor negatively affecting the rating of the Pashinyan government. At the same time, he noted that COVID-19 had a similar effect on the ratings of all other governments in the world. Responsibility for idle economies for months is borne by governments, which cannot but affect their ratings negatively.
