ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sargsyan made a statement on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.  In the  message of the President of Armenia, in particular, it says: "Dear  compatriots in Armenia, in Artsakh and in the Diaspora!

This year, the anniversary of the commemoration of the victims of the  Armenian Genocide is held on pandemic-dictated regulations. However,  a tribute to the memory our holy martyrs was never measured only by  visiting the Genocide Memorial Complex in Yerevan or other monuments  to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

We remember our victims constantly and everywhere, no matter where in  the world we are, we pray for them in our souls and thoughts, for  each one by name. The memory and pain of loss, interwoven with our  will to win and achieve the victory of justice, have been with us for  105 years.

Yes, more than a century has passed since the Armenian Genocide,  deprivation of the Armenian people of their homeland and property.  However, the entire Armenian people are still waiting for the victory  of truth and the affirmation of justice.

Historians and analysts, statesmen of their time, considered absolute  neglect of the rights of the Armenian people to be one of the  greatest injustices of the world order that had been established  after the First World War.

Human losses of 1.5 million lives significantly influenced the  further reproduction of the Armenian people:  today we should not  have been 10-12 million people, but at least twice as many.

The issue of recognition of the Armenian Genocide, which the  Armenians raise before the international community and Turkey, has  several components: a duty of memory, preventing the recurrence and  condemnation of such crimes, eliminating the consequences of the  Genocide.

It is unacceptable to consider the recognition of the Armenian  Genocide from the point of view of momentary economic or political  interests related to Ankara.

With this approach, the world will not move forward. On the one hand,  we cannot declare an effective joint fight against xenophobia,  discrimination, intolerance, anti-Semitism, negativism and other  universal evil, and on the other hand, on the issue of the Armenian  Genocide, "use diplomacy" with Turkey.  Many states that have great  interests with Turkey have overcome this obstacle and should be given  their due.

We are grateful to them, as well as to those countries that opened  their doors after the Genocide and sheltered those who escaped from  this disaster. We are grateful to humanitarian organizations,  missionaries, diplomats, and those peoples and individuals who  extended a hand in those terrible days.  help and saved many.

The position of the alternating governments of Turkey, which have  avoided and are avoiding the recognition of the Genocide and  promoting a policy of negation at the state level, is unacceptable.   The crime of genocide has no statute of limitations. Turkey's  recognition of the Armenian Genocide and elimination of its  consequences is a guarantee of security for Armenia and the Armenian  people, as well as for the region.

We cannot forget the Armenian Genocide and come to terms with its  consequences.  Dear compatriots, Today, in addition to painful  memory, it should be said about perseverance spirit and heroism shown  by our people in these years. Genocide is also the story of the  survival and struggle of the Armenian people, the history of the  struggle of the human spirit and will. It was a struggle for life.  The struggle for the preservation of identity, the struggle not to  lose the memory of the nation and for the right and opportunity to  pass it on to generations.

Genocide is also the story of everyday human heroism, when life and  existence are already a struggle. We fought, showed stamina and  became heroes.

We were able to defeat death, we survived and reborn. The existence  of independent Armenia today, free Artsakh, as well as an organized  and successful Diaspora, is a confirmation of this, and a new  opportunity for us.

The opportunity to unite as a nation and people, to unite our efforts  and opportunities and achieve the realization of our national  aspirations. I believe that. I remember and demand. "
