More than 70% of respondents consider discrimination in Armenia a serious problem - CRRC-Armenia study

ArmInfo. In Armenia, 70.4% of 2,200 respondents consider discrimination in the country to be a serious or somewhat serious problem. This is according to the results of a survey conducted by the research foundation “Caucasus Research Resource Center - Armenia” (CRRC-Armenia).

As reported by the press service of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, the CRRC-Armenia study on discrimination in Armenia was conducted as part of cooperation between the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and the Danish Institute for Human Rights and presented on September 11 at the opening of a three-day exhibition entitled “Discrimination in Armenia.”

“As part of the study, a survey of 2,200 adult respondents was conducted throughout Armenia from November to December 2025, and in-depth interviews were also organized. According to the results of the study, 70.4% of those surveyed consider discrimination in Armenia to be a serious or somewhat serious problem. At the same time, 16.5% of respondents reported that they had personally encountered at least one case of discrimination over the past five years,” the Office of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) reported.

At the same time, it is noted that 92.3% of those who had personal experience of discrimination did not complain anywhere about it, while only 1.7% reported that they had contacted the competent authorities. “The study also reveals stereotypical attitudes toward various population groups and addresses manifestations of discrimination in labor relations, the healthcare and education sectors, in the family and community, in public places and online spaces. The Human Rights Defender emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation between government bodies, civil society, international partners and the expert community to strengthen effective mechanisms for preventing discrimination, ensuring equality and protecting rights,” the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia noted.
