Mirzoyan inspected the production facilities of the Bovo GAZ plant in Riga

ArmInfo. During his visit to Riga, Armenian Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ararat Mirzoyan visited the BOVO GAS biogas plant, where he was introduced to its production facilities, biogas production process, and technologies.

According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the company's founder and owner, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Latvia Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, presented Mirzoyan with information about the company's activities and the entire production chain, including its contribution to the development of the Baltic energy system, as well as completed and ongoing projects. It was emphasized that BOVO GAS - A unique high-quality biomethane production plant operating in Latvia since March 2024, it purifies biogas and directly injects the resulting biomethane into the Latvian natural gas network.

It was noted that the project is one of the best examples of converting agricultural waste into renewable energy, including biogas, along a production chain from egg production to high-quality fertilizer production.

During the visit, the exchange of experience and prospects for biogas production in Armenia were discussed. In this context, Mirzoyan emphasized that strengthening energy sustainability and diversifying energy sources are among the priorities of the Armenian government.

The BOVO GAS plant is a biogas purification plant designed and built by SEP in collaboration with SIA EGG ENERGY's biogas plant modernization project. The BOVO GAS plant already purifies biogas produced by EGG ENERGY into biomethane. Integrated pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology, with a capacity of up to 1,200 m³ of biomethane per hour, separates CO2 contained in biogas. The resulting biomethane is compressed to the local natural gas network pressure of 17 bar and fed to a gas chromatograph analyzer, which tests its composition and purity. This production technology ensures the highest quality biomethane, with a reserve supply, which, after testing, is fed into the GASO natural gas network.
