The Armenia bloc appealed to European ambassadors accredited in the Republic with a proposal to organize a meeting and discuss the problems existing in the country, but has still not received a response. MP Levon Kocharyan of the Armenia parliamentary faction stated this at a press conference in Yerevan on September 8.
In other words, as the MP noted, they see a lack of reaction from European structures to the lawlessness taking place in Armenia. "It was impossible to imagine such a thing even 10 years ago. During personal meetings, they share our concerns, but unfortunately, this is not followed by any reaction. The Armenia bloc approached the embassies of European countries in the Republic to organize meetings with their officials and discuss the existing problems. However, we have not yet received a response. But we nevertheless intend to do everything to make it impossible to ignore what is happening. As for the EU, it seems that the situation that has developed—the country’s being in limbo—is beneficial both to this structure and to the Armenian authorities," Kocharyan said.
At the same time, he noted that regardless of what criminal case is initiated against him and his family members, they do not intend to retreat. "If our goal were to live in comfort, then believe me, we would simply be living our own lives. After all, all this pressure and persecution—it is naturally an unpleasant process, even if we do not talk about it. But when an idea, the Homeland, compassion, and the decision to live in one’s own country are at the foundation of everything, then the responsibility for everything becomes greater. And then all this pressure becomes secondary," the MP concluded.
