Armenia`s population exceeds 3.1 million

ArmInfo.  Armenia's population reached 3.104 million as of July 2026, growing by 0.6%  (19,500 people) year-over-year, according to data from the  Statistical Committee of Armenia. This represents a minor  deceleration from the 0.8% growth rate recorded in the previous year.

The population of Yerevan rose by 0.5% (6,200 people) to 1.150  million, accounting for 37% of the nation's total population.  According to the source, the urban population as of the reporting  date was 1.984 million, or 64% of the total (with an annual growth  rate accelerating from 0.1% to 0.4%), while the rural population was  over 1.120 million, or 36% (with an annual growth rate decelerating  from 2.3% to 0.9%).

According to statistics, Kotayk remains the most populous province  with 299,100 residents,  followed by two regions close to the  capital: Armavir (272.4 thousand) and Ararat (271.7 thousand).  Slightly fewer people live in Shirak - 242.1 thousand, Lori - 228.8  thousand, Gegharkunik - 217.3 thousand. Aragatsotn has a population  of 136.3 thousand, followed by Syunik and Tavush (119.2 thousand and  118.2 thousand).  Vayots Dzor remains the most sparsely populated  region of the country, with a population of only 49.3 thousand.
