A carpet museum will open in Armenia.

ArmInfo. Armenia is set to get a carpet museum. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and Levon Vartan Der Bedrossian, under which the philanthropist intends to transfer to the Republic of Armenia real estate he owns in the community of Garni, Kotayk region, as well as his personal collection, in order to establish a carpet museum in Armenia.

The RA Government approved the donation at its session on July 30. According to the justification for the draft decision, the resolution provides for transferring to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport property belonging to Levon Vartan Der Bedrossian, located at: Garni community, Tupik 1, Gegard Highway, Kotayk region, with an area of 817.64 square meters, as well as a 0.26-hectare plot of land allocated for its use and maintenance, and a 0.1-hectare plot of land.

Under the memorandum, a carpet museum is to be established on the specified premises, while the philanthropist retains the right to continue residing in the house. This will make it possible to create a new cultural center dedicated to Armenian carpet art.
