ArmInfo. Key international players supported Artsakh's right to self-determination, but the government of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan effectively rejected this approach and handed Artsakh over to Azerbaijan. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition "I Have the Honor" faction.
The MP noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated on July 13 in occupied Shushi that for many years, the basis of negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict had been the transfer of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region and the Karvachar and Lachin regions to Armenia. "According to Aliyev, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, represented by the United States, Russia, and France, also insisted on this solution. Incidentally, this idea and position are also evident in Pashinyan's packages on the Artsakh negotiation process, published last year.
In fact, key international players supported Artsakh's right to self-determination, negotiations along these lines had been ongoing for many years, but Pashinyan's government rejected this approach and handed Artsakh over to Azerbaijan," the MP concluded.
