ArmInfo. Zhakip Asanov, coordinator of the CIS mission to the Armenian parliamentary elections and Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, noted a calm atmosphere during the voting process at polling stations in Yerevan.
Speaking to journalists, he said that before the polling stations opened, observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS) checked the integrity of the seals and stamps on the ballot boxes, as well as the conditions set up inside the voting booths at one of the polling stations in Armenia.
"We spoke with observers and commission members to see if they had any questions regarding the organization. Overall, I would like to note that there's a very calm, working atmosphere here; people are already coming and casting their votes. It seems to me that very good preliminary work has been conducted, and everything is organized at the proper level," he said.
According to him, the CIS IPA observers plan to visit not only polling stations in Yerevan today but also in the regions, and will monitor the vote counting process in the evening.
