As of late December 2015, there were nearly 488.5 thsd citizens of Armenia in Russia, according to the official statistics of the Federal Migration Service of Russia.
321.7 thsd of the specified figure are men, and 166.8 thsd are women. Most of them - nearly 394.6 thsd are citizens of employable age (18-59).
At the same time, as of early December 2014, there were nearly 514.5 thsd citizens of Armenia in Russia. According to the Federal Migration Service of Russia, most of the Armenian citizens in Russia - over 431 thsd - are citizens aged 18-59. Thus, the number of Armenian citizens in the territory of the Russian Federation dropped by 26,000. At the same time, the number of Armenian citizens of employable age (18-59) dropped by 37,000.
To note, according to the Central Bank of Armenia, in Jan-Aug 2015 a total of $602.2 mln was transferred to Armenia versus $957 mln over Jan-Aug 2014 (37% drop). The decline in the money transfers from Russia to Armenia was due to the ruble depreciation in 2014-15 and problems in the Russian economy. The money transfers from Russia have been declining since summer 2014.
