A memorial tablet dedicated to Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Bagramyan was unveiled in Vitebsk on July 3, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.
Tut.by reports that the memorial tablet is on the residential house No.103/1 on the crossroad of the Moscow Avenue and Bagramyan Street. The authors of the tablet are sculptors Azat and Tigran Torosyan. The names of the sponsors are indicated on the tablet.
In addition, streets have been named after Marshal Bagramyan in Gorodok and Polotsk. In the same towns, Azat Torosyan made obelisks dedicated to Bagramyan. In Vitebsk, Torosyan is famous for the memorial groups in Victory Square, the "Meeting" Monument at the railway station and a number of other compositions.
To recall, on 26 June 1944, under the command of Ivan Bagramyan, the troops of the First Baltic Front in collaboration with the Third Byelorussian Front liberated Vitebsk from Nazi Germans. On June 28, the Soviet troops drove the enemy out of Lepel. On July 4, Polotsk was completely liberated from Germans. All this happened within the framework of the operation codenamed Bagration.
