The Armenian society thinks the most opposition politicians in Armenia are MP Nikol Pashinyan and Head of the Heritage Party Faction Zaruhi Postanjyan, Aram Navasardyan, Founder and Director at MPG LLC - Exclusive Representative of Gallup International Association in Armenia, said at a press conference in Yerevan on July 1.
"These politicians have gathered 3.8 points out of possible 5. The leaders of the Heritage Party and the Armenian National Congress Party, Raffi Hovhannisyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan - scored 3.4 points. The second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan received the lowest score - 2.1," the expert said, adding that the society considers the most opposition political force to be Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party - 3.4 points, Armenian National Congress - 3.2 points, and Heritage Party - 3.2 points. "However, there were also citizens who named the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) as an opposition party. It received 1.4 points, while the RPA's political partner - ARF Dashnaktsutyun - received 2.7 points," he said.
When asked what political force they would vote for if the elections were held on coming Sunday, 41% of the respondents said they would vote for none of the existing forces, 32.5% found it difficulty to answer the question, 9% would vote for the RPA, 8.3% - for the Prosperous Armenia Party, 3.2% - for ARFD, 2.2% - for Armenian National Congress, 1.1% - for Heritage, 0.9% - for Civil Contract, 0.2% - for Orinats Yerkir Party. "Yerevan and the provinces express different opinions about the leaders. In Yerevan, 10.3% of the respondents are ready to vote for the RPA, while in the provinces the indicator makes up 8.2%. As regards the Prosperous Armenia Party, the shares of respondents who would vote for it are 4.7% and 10.4% in Yerevan and in the provinces, respectively," Navasardyan said, noting that these are low indicators anyway.
To note, the public opinion poll was conducted on May 13-24, with 1106 citizens of Armenia interviewed.
