On April 18, the Police and National Security Service of Armenia detained the resident of Yerevan, certain Hovhanness Muradyan, who is suspected of throwing a training grenade towards the house of Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan.
According to the Police press-office, Hovhaness Muradyan pled guilty. Circumstances are being verified.
Earlier, the Investigative committee of Armenia initiated a criminal case over the incident near the house of the second president of Armenia.
On April 15, 2016 at about 18:25 an unknown person threw a training grenade towards the house of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan from a car.
According to Sona Truzyan, the adviser of the head of the Investigative Committee, the police arrived on the spot immediately, the area has been examined and the witnesses were interrogated. According to the Investigative Committee, the car the suspect was driving while carrying out the committal was found. Searches were conducted in the order defined by the law.
Additional information on the investigation results will be provided later. The second president's spokesman Viktor Soghomonyan has confirmed the information, saying Robert Kocharyan was attending the meeting of AFK Sistema Board of Director when the incident happened.
