From December 31 to January 10, the ambulance service of Yerevan received 9,611 calls (830 more than during the same period of 2015), Taguhi Stepanyan, Head of "Ambulance" CJSC, said at a press conference on January 12.
She said that during that period a total of 1,567 people were hospitalized. The biggest number of calls was received on January 7 - 956. On certain days the ambulance received 50-60 calls per hour.
The number of ARVI-related calls was 699, with 104 children hospitalized. As for adults, a total of 1659 ARVI-related calls were received, with 10 people hospitalized.
This year the ambulance service received only two calls related to food poisoning, 64 calls related to alcohol intoxication, and 70 calls related to traumas.
In 2015, the ambulance service received a total of 238,216 calls (11,827 more than in 2014), with most of them being calls related to ARVI and cardiovascular diseases.
In emergency cases, the ambulance gets to the patients within 7-15 minutes.
