The ICRC is taking measures to ensure the visit to Armenian citizen Lusine Abovyan, who crossed into Azerbaijan on November 8, Zara Amatuni, Head of Communication and Prevention Programmes at the ICRC Yerevan Office, has told ArmInfo.
"Both sides have confirmed the information that Armenian citizen Lusine Abovyan crossed into the territory of Azerbaijan. Today the ICRC is trying to get permit for visiting the woman. There was a day off in Azerbaijan yesterday," said Amatuni.
Earlier Armenian Police reported that Lusine Abovyan (born in 1942), a resident of Koti village, went missing.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media outlets reported, citing Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry that Lusine Abovyan (born in 1942) violated the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in the direction of the Gazakh region on November 8 and was detained by the Azerbaijani armed forces. "The Armenian citizen is being treated in accordance with the international law. After the appropriate procedures, she will be handed over to the opposite side", Trend quotes the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry as saying.
