"Escalation of Violence in Nagorno- Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan" report, prepared by Robert Walter (United Kingdom, EC), a rapporteur of the PACE Political Affairs Committee, is on the agenda of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) January session.
Such decision was adopted during the meeting of the PACE Political Affairs Committee, which ended several minutes ago. 26 delegates voted "for", 10 "against" and 4 delegates abstained from voting.
As a result, the efforts of the Armenian delegation to block the report failed. Earlier the Armenian delegation has expressed resentment related to the subjective statements in the report, which are reflected even in the title of the report. The Armenian delegates called on PACE not to touch upon the Karabakh problem at all, as a professional format of OSCE Minsk Groups already deals with it, and any discussions outside this format may impede Minsk co-chairs' activities. However, the Armenian delegation's arguments have been ignored.
Earlier the members of the Armenian delegation to PACE stated that in case the report is adopted they will take corresponding measures, but didn't clarify them.
