Ahead of their April 24 rally in front of the Erebuni Museum in Yerevan, the Founding Parliament Movement has disseminated a statement on the Armenian Genocide Centennial wherein it calls for a change of political power in the country to stop the ongoing "while genocide."
The founding Parliament and the Movement "Centennial Without the Regime" call on the people to gather in the area near the Erebuni Museum Reserve on April 24 at 6:00pm to pay tribute to the Genocide victims and open the way to the process of changing the political power. The Movement suggests a fight for the release of political prisoners as the first step to the change of political power in the country. Leader of the movement Zhiurayr Sefilyan and some members of the movement have been arrested on suspicion of organizing mass disorders on April 24, though in his speeches Sefilyan had said they were not going to impede the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide Centennial.
The Movement says the Yerevan Municipality has permitted their peaceful rallies near the Erebuni Museum through May 10. Earlier, representatives of the Movement said they would go to the streets on April 24 and stay there until a change of power in the country.
