Russian Deputy Minister of Interior Alexander Savenkov said at the RF State Duma Security and Anti-Corruption Committee on November 5 that the bus running from Moscow to Yerevan overturned near Tula as the driver fell asleep, according to RIA Novosity.
"It is a common problem. Drivers do not observe the work and rest rules," he said.
To recall, 8 people were killed and 47 injured, as a passenger bus running from Moscow to the Armenian capital of Yerevan overturned on the M4 "Don" highway in Tula Region. One of the injured died at hospital. The bus belonged to an Armenian Company King Deluxe. A criminal case was initiated on the basis of Article 264.5 of the Criminal Code of Russia "violation of traffic rules and improper operation of transport means." The police do not rule out that the driver might have fallen asleep while driving. The driver Garnik Haroutiunyan has been detained. By preliminary data, he fell asleep while driving.
After the incident, the Moscow State Inspectorate for Motor Traffic detained another two similar passenger buses running to Yerevan over technical problems and banned their exploitation in Russia.
