The Nagorny Karabakh conflict cannot be settled by force, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin said in response to ArmInfo, on September 29.
"I am sure the conflict can be settled at the negotiating table, and only by peace methods. The OSCE Minsk Group and the entire world community are committed to the peace process. I hope the escalation and violence will not continue," the diplomat said expressing concern over the latest upsurge of tensions in the conflict zone and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border that claimed lives on both parties. The ambassador extended his condolences to the families of the killed.
As to the possible meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders later this year, Ivan Volynkin said the given issue was discussed on the margins of the UNGA, but the outcomes of the discussions are not known yet. The OSCE Minsk Group is just a mediator; the main parties to the negotiations are the conflicting parties, the diplomat said.
