In Armenia secondary deposits are neglected as they promise no super profits, Head of the Association for Sustainable Human Development Karine Danielyan told ArmInfo on Friday.
He said that in Armenia mining enjoys the best conditions. As a result, some miners enjoy super profits. But the worst thing here is that they often ignore environmental requirements.
"In our country tailing dumps are a source of potential threat for the environment. But if we use them as secondary deposits, we will solve this problem. Simply, this will require serious investments and modern technologies," Danielyan said, noting that Armenia has almost 20 tailing dumps (with the biggest ones situated in Syunik region).
