The stance of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia remains steadfast - the people of Karabakh have determined their own destiny through referendum and voted for independence, vice-speaker of the Armenian parliament, press-secretary of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Edward Sharmazanov, told journalists today when commenting of the statement by the leader of the Russian Liberal and Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
Sharmazanov emphasized that Russia is a co-chair state of the OSCE Minsk Group and President Vladimir Putin voiced Russia's position regarding Karabakh for many times: the conflict should be resolved within the frames of the three basic principles - peoples' right for self-determination, non-use of force and territorial integrity. Russia has no alternative official position on the matter, he said.
To recall, in an interview with the "Russian news service" Zhirinovsky said that it is necessary to involve Nagornyy Karabakh Republic within Russian Federation, otherwise the Karabakh conflict will be never resolved.
