The Health Ministry of Armenia has disseminated a statement where it says that the medical community of Armenia condemns the armed group "Daredevils of Sasoun' for taking 4 medical workers hostage.
"A few hours earlier, a group of medical workers of the Ambulance service arrived at the territory of the Police Patrol Service Regiment that was seized by the armed group 'Daredevils of Sasoun' on July 17 to provide aid to the two wounded members of the group. However, physicians Norayr Tevonyan and Slavador Khechoyan, paramedic David Tononyan, and nurse Malina Margaryan were taken hostage by the armed group. Such actions are inadmissible and are condemned worldwide. The medical community of Armenia is indignant at the reports about the hostage situation, condemns this immoral behavior, and demands an immediate release of the hostages without preconditions. The armed group did not even reckon with the fact that doctors have been providing them with all the necessary assistance since the first day they seized the Police regiment," the statement reads.
