Control Chamber of
Armenia has detected a series of violations in gas supply to some unprivileged
communities in the Syunik region. A local Chorrord Ishkhanutyun newspaper
writes.
According to the source, Ishkhan Zakaryan, Head of the
Control Chamber said in the National Assembly Committee for Agricultural and
Nature Protection Affairs that the gas pipes laid along the Goris- Stepanakert
highway were old and corroded. Meanwhile, Zakaryan said the state budget
allocated 613 million drams for gas supply and related activities for the given
communities and additional 22 million drams for cleaning of the adjacent areas.
According to Zakaryan, even ArmRusgasprom Company (now
Gazprom-Armenia -editor's note) refused to put that section of the gas pipeline
to the books, as it was unserviceable.
"It turns out that the residents of the given
communities are not supplied with gas due to unserviceable pipelines, despite
the solid funds spent for that purpose," Zakaryanm said.
The paper recalls that the gas pipelines were laid in
the period when the region was governed by notorious Suren Khachatryan
(nickname Litsa). "Hardly could he stay aside of the project with all that
it implies," the paper writes.
