Moscow Court refuses to change measure of restraint against Levon Hayrapetyan, Armenian businessman and philanthropist, RIA Novosti said.  Hayrapetyan's lawyer Henry Reznik, in turn, said Hayrapetyan's disease may cause a new hearth attack in case of excessive emotions. The lawyer says the only proofs of Hayrapetyan's guilt is the testimonies by former senator Igor Izmestyev, who, however, is in prison and his testimonies cannot be trusted. In addition, Reznik calls inadmissible the court's arguments suggesting that Hayrapetyan is rich enough to bride judiciary.  

Earlier today the court ruled that Hayrapetyan cannot but participate in the trial on his arrest. The businessman participates in the trial through a videophone communication despite illness. 

Wednesday, on 14 August, the lawyers requested deposition of the personal sureties by filmmakers Mark Zakharov and Alexander Shirvindt as well as by Leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese in Russia.  In addition, the lawyers informed the court that Levon Hayrapetyan's brother is ready to pay 30 million rubles of bailment or "the amount the court will determine." The lawyers submitted the results of Hayrapetyan's medical examination at several clinics, including in the USA, suggesting that Hayrapetyan underwent surgery and suffers cardio-vascular problems.

Hayrapetyan was detained by the Federal Security Service on his arrival at the Domodedovo Airport from Monaco on 15 July. He was interrogated at the Investigation Committee under guard of secret-service agents. To note, on July 17 the Basman District Court of Moscow chose a 2-month arrest as a measure of restraint for Artsakh businessman Levon Hayrapetyan. The court also attached Hayrapetyan's stake in Bashneft (about 300 million rubles).  Hayrapetyan is charged under Articles 160 (misappropriation) and 174 (legalization of criminal means) of the Russian Criminal Code.
