During a meeting with the Dortmund community of Germany, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called on the third countries not to interfere in the Armenian-Turkish relations.
This call first of all concerned the German Parliament, which is considering a bill on the Armenian Genocide. "We have lived side by side with the nations of Anatolia for thousands of years. We know how to talk to them and how to come to terms with them. Your interference is in vain. Don't try to teach us history lessons. You'd better look at your own past. We are not going to make our history and our honor a subject of public discussion," said the Premier.
He was especially indignant at the initiative to teach at German schools the genesis of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. In this light, he urged Germany to give up that initiative. "No one has the right to develop a curriculum discrediting the Turkish people," said Davutoglu. He once again expressed Turkey's readiness to open its archives.
