ArmInfo.Ambassador-at-Large of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, former NKR Minister of Foreign Affairs Masis Mayilyan touched upon the illegal blockade of the internationally recognized Lachin (Kashatagh) corridor, which has been going on for 100 days, noting that the use of terms plays an important role in politics, and their rash use can predetermine the outcome of negotiations.
As Masis Mayilyan wrote on his Facebook page, this is also the reason why 'terms are not disputed, they are agreed upon".
"Along with the illegal blockade of the internationally recognized Lachin (Kashatagh) corridor, Azerbaijan offers the citizens of the Republic of Artsakh to integrate into its ranks under the threat of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
The adoption by Artsakh of an integration agenda from the very beginning would mean not only alienation from its own sovereignty and legal rights, but also a rejection of the dream of the indigenous Armenian people of Artsakh to live freely and safely in their homeland. In our case, the "integration" term, which is quite popular in international relations, means voluntary surrender," Mayilyan emphasized.
In this regard, he drew attention to the fact that official Baku is even trying to introduce another version of the "integration" term - "reintegration", which means the return of Artsakh to Azerbaijan.
"However, it is well known that Nagorno-Karabakh was never part of independent Azerbaijan, but was subordinated to Soviet Azerbaijan by an illegal decision of a party body of a third side- the Caucasian Bureau of the Russian Bolshevik Party. Any judgment about Artsakh's relations with Azerbaijan makes sense only in the context of the decision of the Bolsheviks and the adopted later than the constitution of the USSR. The suspension of the constitution of the USSR in 1991 closed this topic. The problem of the illegal claims of the self-proclaimed Republic of Azerbaijan to the self-determined Republic of Artsakh was revealed," the former Foreign Minister of Artsakh emphasized.
According to Mayilyan, before talking about reintegration, the famous "paper tiger" with rusting "iron paws" must first be able to restore the Soviet Union. The representative of the President of Artsakh added that if he is not able to do so, then everything else is a bluff and deceit.
"Today is the 100th day of the illegal blockade of the internationally recognized Lachin (Kashatagh) corridor. I am sure that, if necessary, the people of Artsakh will endure another 1,000 or more days, but will not give up their legitimate collective rights and their sovereignty. Making the right decisions and competently using existing potential, we will emerge from the crisis imposed on us becoming even stronger. There are more than enough grounds for optimism," Mayilyan assured.
