ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani side bears full responsibility for the aggravation of the situation on the border and further destabilization. This was stated by the head of the Main Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Levon Ayvazyan during a meeting with the military attaches of foreign embassies accredited in Armenia.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the attaches were informed about the military actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the direction of the village of Verin Shorzha on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the morning of July 28. In particular, they were told that in order to improve their positions and create favorable conditions for further advancement, Azerbaijani units, using grenade launchers and other large-caliber weapons, attacked the dominant Armenian stronghold, temporarily capturing it. As a result of the retaliatory actions of the Armenian Armed Forces, having suffered numerous losses, the enemy was thrown back to its original positions. According to Levon Ayvazyan, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces carry out the combat missions assigned to them, taking all the necessary measures to counter the enemy. At the same time, he drew the attention of the military attaches to the fact that after the signing of the trilateral statement of November 9, the largest provocation of the enemy took place in the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, which poses an immediate threat to the civilian population of nearby settlements.
"Remaining committed to the obligations enshrined in the trilateral statement of November 9, the position of the Armenian side remains clear and unchanged - the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces should be withdrawn from the sovereign territory of Armenia," he said. According to the source, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Human Rights Defender of Armenia Artyom Sedrakyan, who presented to those present the situation in terms of human rights violations as a result of the provocation of the Azerbaijani side.
