ArmInfo. EU Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin launched the "EU4Environment: Green community - Resilient Future'" Project in the village of Margaovit, Lori region, RA.
As reported by the press service of the EU delegation to Armenia, the ambassador, launching the project, said in particular: "climate change, environmental protection and sustainable development actions are at the heart of the European Green Deal and are among the main priorities of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia. We are convinced that greening is a key element of economic recovery, therefore, the European Union strives to further support projects in Armenia on biodiversity conservation, adaptation to climate change, renewable energy sources, sustainable waste management and other environmental projects. "
" Green community - Resilient Future'" is a three-year project implemented by the Armenia Tree Project (ATP) charitable foundation in partnership with the Jinishyan Memorial Foundation (JMF) and the Armenian Energy Agency Foundation. The project will introduce green city development models, increase the potential for environmental protection, as well as adaptation to climate change in target 15 municipalities in Lori, Shirak and Tavush regions of Armenia. The project was launched on World Environment Day.
The "EU4Environment: Green community - Resilient Future'" Project was launched on March 1, 2021 in Armenia and will last 36 months. The three-year program envisages the construction of a state-of-the-art tree nursery in Gyumri, modeled on the Mirak ATR nursery, capable of growing 100,000 seedlings annually; 150 new household nurseries - micro-enterprises with a total annual yield of 200,000 seedlings; 100 hectares of new forests and seasonal planting for local residents and more, including awareness raising.
