ArmInfo. The issue of the settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh was touched upon during the telephone conversation of Russian President Vladimir Putin with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
An official statement from the Kremlin says that Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised Russia's steps to ensure further stabilization of the situation, the progressive implementation of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021.
Vladimir Putin briefed the President of Turkey on the results of recent contacts with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. A mutual opinion was expressed on the need to intensify work to restore the transport infrastructure in the South Caucasus.
At the request of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Vladimir Putin outlined Russian approaches to resolving the internal Ukrainian crisis. It was emphasized that the Minsk "Package of Measures" of 2015 is the uncontested basis for the settlement. At the same time, concern was expressed in connection with the fact that the Ukrainian side evades the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and recently resumed dangerous provocative actions aimed at aggravating the situation on the line of contact.
In connection with the plans for the construction of the Istanbul Canal by Turkey, the Russian side emphasized the importance of preserving, in order to ensure regional stability and security, the existing regime of the Black Sea Straits in accordance with the provisions of the Montreux Convention of 1936.
