ArmInfo. Varazdat Karapetyan was relieved of his post as Trade Representative of Armenia in the People's Republic of China. According to the Prime Minister's Office, this decision was made by the head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan.
To recall, in February 2021, Varazdat Karapetyan submitted a letter of resignation. "Refusing the post of Armenia's trade representative in China, I understand that now is not the time to go to the PRC, now is the time to stay in our country and drag the heavy burden of this shameful defeat with like-minded people and comrades. We must first of all have our own nation state, national vision, mission, developed strategy, and then think about our relations with others, "he wrote on his Facebook page.
To recall, economist Karapetyan took over the post of trade representative at the end of November 2020, but did not manage to leave for the PRC. Prior to that, he was a lawmaker of the National Assembly of Armenia from the ruling My Step faction.
