ArmInfo.Russia welcomes the striving of Iran, Turkey, Georgia and a number of European countries to join in the restoration of the economy of Nagorno- Karabakh. This was announced on January 26 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a joint press conference following talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
He stressed that Iran, Turkey and Georgia are interested in the restoration of the economy of Nagorno- Karabakh. Moreover, initiatives are already being voiced that Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, with the participation of the Russian Federation, Iran and Turkey, should strive to build relations in the region, taking into account the new reality. "The reality is when there is no war, when there is an agreement to lift all blockades and other restrictions on normal life in this very important part of globe," Lavrov explained, quoted by TASS.
"In addition to Russia, Iran, Turkey, there are many people who want to join in the restoration of the economy of Nagorno-Karabakh and around it, including from European countries. I think this can only be welcomed. The main thing here is that all external players think first of all that now it is very important to create and strengthen, make reliable and solid the economic foundation for the future life of this region, "the minister said.
"We have no doubts that the Islamic Republic of Iran will be interested in joining these projects. Russia will also directly participate in the efforts that follow from the agreements on unblocking economic and transport links, there are already concrete plans in this regard," the head of Russia's MFA concluded.
