ArmInfo. MP from the Bright Armenia faction Anna Kostanyan informed, that she had sent an official letter to Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin with a request to assist in saving the historical and cultural heritage in Artsakh.
According to Kostanyan, she asked the Ambassador to get permission to enter Shushi with a small task force and, together with the head of the peacekeeping mission in the NKR, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, organize the export or at least register for the future exhibits of 4 state and 2 private museums of the city.
Kostanyan recalled that during one of the press conferences, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the need to preserve historical and cultural monuments in the territories of Artsakh, which are now under the control of Azerbaijan. Lavrov noted that he talked with the leadership of UNESCO with the aim of sending a special group to Artsakh to assess the damage caused to the historical and cultural heritage of the republic.
The MP asked a rhetorical question: "What is our government doing to save the historical and cultural heritage from the criminal hands of Azerbaijanis?"
According to the MP, in the museums of Shushi there are 197 historical and cultural monuments, about 800 picturesque, graphic, sculptural works, more than 700 unique specimens of the Shushi Geological Museum.
