ArmInfo. By the decision of Minister of the Environment of Armenia Romanos Petrosyan, it is envisaged to form new Public Council under the department.
According to the Ministry of Environmen, the Public Council under the Minister will be an independent advisory body coordinating public participation in the development of environmental policies and specific projects. The Council will operate on a voluntary basis.
Based on the stated proposals and opinions of ecologists and environmental organizations, the Minister announced the start of the formation of the composition of the Public Council. According to him, the members of the Council should take an active and effective part in identifying problems in the environmental sector, developing programs to solve them, roadmaps, developing policies aimed at developing the sector, come up with professional opinions and proposals on various issues, cooperate with various public organizations and, if necessary, involve appropriate specialists.
