Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan and Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Mrs. Inga Stanyte-Tolockiene discussed the issue of gross violation of human rights by the Azerbaijani armed forces, numerous facts of atrocities and humiliations against prisoners of war and the civilian population of Artsakh.
The Human Rights Defender emphasized that attacks on the civilian population of Artsakh and the use of prohibited weapons against them, participation in the war of mercenary terrorists, atrocities and inhuman treatment of Armenians, testify to the policy of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh adopted by the Azerbaijani authorities.
Tatoyan informed the Ambassador that the Azerbaijani authorities are artificially delaying the exchange of bodies of and the issue of returning Armenian prisoners of war both during and after the end of hostilities.
"Azerbaijan intends to deliberately create an environment of uncertainty and tension in the Armenian society, wants to undermine the mental immunity of society, inflict mental suffering on the families of dead servicemen, missing people and prisoners of war. "All this is part of the long-standing policy of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan," Arman Tatoyan said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed other issues related to the protection of human rights, and also reached agreements on new areas of cooperation in the field of human rights.
