ArmInfo. There was no trilateral meeting of Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian diplomats at the Russian Foreign Ministry. This was announced on Wednesday by the official representative of the Russian diplomatic service Maria Zakharova in an interview with TASS.
"As for yesterday's meeting with the ambassadors of Azerbaijan and Armenia [Polad Bulbuloglu and Vardan Toghanyan], it was not a joint one. There were two meetings, they were held separately. Press releases were published on their results, we and the ambassadors themselves gave a detailed commentary on this account, "she said.
Commenting on the sequence of meetings with the ambassadors, Zakharova stressed that in acute situations this protocol issue fades into the background. "Traditionally, at forums, summits, and so on, either some special order is established, or the alphabet order is simply used. In this situation, the situation itself, the drama still presupposes an orientation toward resolving the issue rather than the protocol part. Everyone understands this , the ambassadors understand this too, so there were no misunderstandings on this issue, "she stressed.
The diplomat noted that the meetings were not held in the traditional format, since they were attended not only by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, but also by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. "In particular, there was the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of our country (Alexander Gorovoy), and Mr. (Andrey) Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was present from the Foreign Ministry," she explained. As Zakharova pointed out, at the meetings they discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, but mainly the question was raised about the reaction of the Azerbaijani and Armenian Diasporas. "These events really struck them in their hearts, considering the number of victims, destruction of civil and military infrastructure. The situation, as you understand, is tense, it finds a very lively response," she said. "And this is not only about the diasporas that live in the territory of Russia, but also about those who live abroad and at the same time come from the post-Soviet space and are Russian-speaking. They also turn to us with questions. "
