ArmInfo. There is a sharp aggravation of the situation with COVID-19 in Armenia. On September 24, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a government meeting.
According to him, 374 new cases of infection from 3913 examinations were recorded the day before. This, according to the Prime Minister, is due to increased movement and congestion of citizens. Nevertheless, the position of the authorities remains unchanged: it is necessary to live in parallel with the coronavirus. And here a lot depends on the personal responsibility of each. Of course, as the head of government noted, it is necessary to strengthen administrative measures, and in this context, an agreement was reached that the inspection bodies and the police will tighten control over the maintenance of the rules of conduct. But, on the other hand, Nikol Pashinyan continued, it is necessary to understand that there are red lines that cannot be crossed. We are talking, in particular, about the red lines, which will signal the exhaustion of hospital opportunities. In the latter case, other decisions will be made. In July, steps were taken to significantly increase these capabilities. Currently, most of the medical institutions have returned to their natural activities, but at any moment they are ready to return to active steps to combat the coronavirus.
In turn, RA Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said that according to the current situation, the country has 1230 hospital beds and 130 beds in rehabilitation departments, 30% of which are still free. Out of 20 medical institutions, 5 clinics are currently treating exclusively coronavirus. Three more highly specialized institutions deal with issues of newborns and pregnant women. In the event of an aggravation of the situation within 1-3 days, this entire resource will be used. We are talking about 2700-2800 ordinary beds and 300 rehabilitation beds. The peak of the pandemic was on July 6, when the maximum number of confirmed cases was recorded, the minimum was on September 11. And it is from September 11 that the increase in the number of diseases begins. The reason for this phenomenon, according to the Minister, in addition to the growth of movements, is a more frequent violation of discipline. One of the most important factors in the increase in the number of movements is the resumption of the educational process in schools and workplaces, which has not happened for a long period of time.
The RA Prime Minister stated that almost all countries have a similar picture. Exceptions are countries that have the resources to develop vaccines. Developments in the world, and in particular in Europe, show a new, much more powerful outbreak of the pandemic. The head of the Armenian government pointed out that various assistance programs are being used in order to neutralize the economic consequences of the coranavirus. A program of assistance to transport companies in the tourism sector is starting today. To recall, as of 11:00 on September 24, 374 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Armenia, another 240 patients recovered.
In total, 48251 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the republic, 43,266 people recovered, 945 died. In the last 24 hours, the disease claimed the lives of 3 patients aged 61, 70 and 85 years; they all had accompanying chronic diseases. So far, 3,748 patients are receiving actual treatment. In total, 272,295 tests for coronavirus were carried out in the republic (of which 3,913 - in the last day).
