ArmInfo.Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan sent a message to representatives of the Yezidi community of Armenia on the occasion of the anniversary of the genocide committed in Sinjar.
As the press service of the government told ArmInfo, the message reads in particular:
"Dear sisters and brothers of the Yezidi community of Armenia, Today we mark the anniversary of the genocide committed by terrorist groups against the Yezidi people in Sinjar six years ago. Indeed, this tragedy that befell the Yezidi people is a terrible crime against humanity and the civilized world. We share your pain and express our sincere support.
I wish the Yezidi community of Armenia, all the Yezidi families patience and perseverance. As a consolation, always know that in your homeland, the Republic of Armenia, you have a safe and secure future and a wide field for progress. "
To recall, on August 3, 2014, IS terrorists seized the Shingal region in northern Iraq, inhabited mainly by Yezidis, and committed genocide against the local population. About 5,000 people were killed, up to 7,000 women and children were taken into slavery, and over 400,000 Yezidis became refugees.
