Rostelecom Company jointly with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan assisted to organizing free trainings for improving the older users' computer literacy on the basis of the ABC in Internet manual, this was announced today at a press-conference dedicated to the Days of "The ABC on Internet" in Armenia.
According to the Deputy Director of the External Communications Department of Rostelecom Yuliana Sokolenko this project was launched in Russia in 2014 jointly with the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation in 5 pilot regions. Currently the trainings on the ABC on Internet are being held in 40 regions, 15 thousand people attend these classes, 32% of which are 50 plus.
Director of the organization "Rossotrudnichestvo" in Armenia Mark Kalinin in his turn noted that within the joint project with Rostelecom, "The ABC on Internet" manual was completely adapted for Armenian users. Within the project free classes are planned in 2 universities - Armenian branch of Economics Institute after Plekhanov (5/2 Arzumanyan street, Yerevan) and Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University (123 Hovsep Emin, Yerevan). The training will last for 12 days and will launch upon the groups formation.
According to Kalinin the project is very demanded in the country, and will expand in the regions of Armenia in perspective.
In the frameworks of the event, CEO of GNC-Alfa CJSC making part of Rostelecom Group Hayk Faramazyan delivered 100 hard copies of the "The ABC on internet" handout to the library of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan and another 50 copies to the National Library of Armenia.
Within the event, Rostelecom held the awards ceremony of the "Thank You, Internet 2015" contest of the personal achievements of the retired people in terms of acquiring computer skills. 2 thousand people took part in the contest. Larisa Atayan, Zhanna Muradyan-Yelkina and Karine Karapetyan are the winners.
To recall, "The ABC on Internet" is an educational textbook for the people of older generation. The project was launched and successfully implemented for the pensioners and people of 55+ age, who start to study the work of computer. Detailed information on the computer structure, rules of work with text files, video and audio recordings, photos, information storage is expounded in an accessible form for the older people in the textbook. A large section of textbook is devoted to obtaining skills in the web search engines, features of the communication in social networks, Skype and email, as well as safety precautions while using the Internet. The manual was adapted for Armenia and presents the power bodies of Armenia, state services and online services, companies providing communication ervices in the country and the news websites.
