By 1 April 2016, the amount of the overdue loans in Armenian banks grew by 22.5% over year to 45.4 bln AMD. According to the Armenian Central Bank's data provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the amount of extended loans totaled 114 bln AMD, with a 12.9% year-over-year decline.
The share of overdue loans in the loan book made up 2.13% (versus 1.8% a year before), with the share of extended loans being 5.34% (versus 6.35% a year before).
54.6% of the overdue loans were short-term loans, with the rest 45.4% being long-term loans, with their absolute value being 24.8 bln AMD and 20.6 bln AMD, respectively.
The major part of the extended loans was long-term loans - 76.5% or 87.5 bln AMD, while the share of short-term loans was 23.5%, or 26.8 bln AMD.
By 1 April 2016, the lending of the Armenian banking system grew by 4.3% over year to 1.974 trillion AMD, or over 2.1 trillion AMD, including the extended loans. (As of 31 March 2016, the AMD/USD exchange rate was 480.79 AMD/$1).
