Economic crisis that Armenia experiences with other countries is a wonderful opportunity to stop "scientific genocide" in our country, Director of Noravank Scientific and Educational Foundation Gagik Harutyunyan expressed this opinion at a conference "Armenia and EEU business community: problems, expectations and prospects" in Yerevan.
"During years after so called "liberal revolution" in the beginning of 1990ies around 5 -6 thousand scientific institutions were closed in Russia alone. While in Armenia the number of scientists and engineers declined 7-8-fold. Almost all of them left the country for abroad. In other words this was a catastrophe for all the countries of former Soviet Union without exception", he noted.
In this light Harutyunyan characterizes drop of prices on energy products resulted by sanctions of the West against Russia by a proverb "every cloud has a silver lining". According to him slowdown of growth rates in economies of Russia and its partners in recently established EEU, leaves no other choice than returning to an economy based on science-driven technologies.
