Till the end of this year, Die Linke Party will be taking measures to raise awareness of the Karabakh problem on all platforms, Martin Dolzer, Member of the Hamburg Parliament from Die Linke Party, said at a press conference in Yerevan on May 19.
"The principle of peoples' right to self-determination is an internationally recognized principle, but in the case of Nagorno-Karabakh there are a number of problems, including ones related to proper coverage of the issue. Many people are unaware of this problem and we have set ourselves a task to launch broad activities to raise public awareness of this issue," Dolzer said.
For her part, Bundestag member Ulla Jelpke (Die Linke) said that one of the goals of her visit to Armenia is to get firsthand information about the situation in Karabakh.
"We visited Karabakh, met with the authorities of the country, and familiarized ourselves with the situation. It is with deep concern that we follow the situation around Karabakh, which has recently experienced escalation. We are also concerned over the fact that on the very first days of the violence upsurge Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his support to Azerbaijan, thereby encouraging Baku's actions. We are convinced that there is no military solution to the conflict and that the sides should settle the problem through a dialogue," she said.
