President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan must realize the gravity of the situation and take a decision, Lyudmila Sargsyan, deputy from "Armenian National Congress" opposition party, said during the June 25 press conference. Sargsyan believes that Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan's statements on the fact that energy price hikes are reasoned should be considered as a preliminary estimation. However, she says, this estimation can be changed if the situation escalates.
According to L. Sargsyan, the Armenian youth's movement is a unique phenomenon for no one controls it. It will take efforts to break these protesters, she says, they are honest people who do realize they are not supposed to pay for someone else's plunder. She has also added that more and more people are joining the movement every day. If the police attempt once more at using force against them, the number will grow 10-20-fold, as it happened after the June 23 harsh crackdown.
As for the disinformation in the Russian and Ukrainian media on the real reasons for protest, the deputy responded that such statements could be seen ever now and then. Yesterday, she says, she talked to a REN-TV journalist who assured her that everyone in Russia believed Baghramyan protests to be very much like Euromaidan.
Nevertheless, Sargsyan believes that Russia's only aid regarding this issue will be acknowledging to the fact that a Russian-owned company is responsible for the plunder. As an example, she spoke of the 106 bln AMD directed at the improvement of the infrastructure of the electric networks. However, no one knows what has happened to the money given the dire state of the ENA. Therefore, the authorities are to accept concessions while the situation is under control.
