The employees of the Frontier Department of the Russian Federal Security Service detained two citizens of Afghanistan, who illegally crossed the Armenian-Turkish border.
The press office of the Frontier Department of the Russian Federal Security Service has told ArmInfo that on July 6 the local residents working in close proximity to the border reported that they saw an unknown person on the near-border Arax river, who came from the side of Turkey.
The frontier guards of Artashat frontier group detained the man. Shortly after, they detained another person, who also crossed the border. The detainees said that they are citizens of Afghanistan and intended to reach the EU countries in transit via Armenia, the source says.
The Frontier Department of the Russian Federal Security Service informs that the trespassers have been transferred to the Armenian National Security Service employees, who will check whether the detainees' information is true or not.
