Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan has no bodyguards; consequently, he could not be implicated in beating of people.
"According to the media reports and the statement of the Armenian Investigative Committee, on 16 May 2016, at 4:30 pm, an incident occurred in the territory of the Ministry of Transport and Communication, which allegedly involved the minister's bodyguards. In this light, we should say that Minister Gagik Beglaryan has no bodyguards and he has nothing to do with the incident," the Ministry says.
Armenian media outlets report that the minister's bodyguard A.Karakhanyan went to the supermarket, where the security officer - aggrieved Mher Mnatsakanyan - asked Karakhanyan to give him a card and replenished the account of his mobile telephone. A few days later, Karakhanyan noticed that there is no enough money on his account, and asked Mnatsakanyan to explain the situation. Karakhanyan went to see Mnatsakanyan with Minister Gagik Beglaryan's bodyguards and driver. Mnatsakanyan was also with his friends.
The press office of the Investigative Committee reports that relevant investigative measures are being taken to find out all the circumstances of the incident, which occurred in the territory of the Ministry. By preliminary data, a scuffle took place and violence was used against 5 persons. They received serious bodily injuries. Four persons - A.Karakhanyan, S.Vardanyan, V.Sargsyan and A.Shmoyan face charges under Article 112.2.6 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The investigator filed a motion to use imprisonment as a measure of punishment.
